According to reports, a self-described pastor in Ogun State impregnated a 12-year-old girl and said it was the devil’s doing.
The Light House Gospel Church, Oluwo, Owode Egba, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun, is reportedly led by Pastor Michael Abiodun, 48.
Police later detained Abiodun “for defiling and impregnating a minor, whose mother was a member of his church”
The pastor was arrested as a result of the information received at Owode Egba divisional police headquarters, according to the Ogun police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi.
According to reports, the victim’s mother had joined the church after struggling with a spiritual issue that is said to have contributed to the deaths of two of her daughters.
Oyeyemi said “One fateful day, the Pastor a father of three, asked the victim’s mother to send her to him for special prayers but on getting there, the Pastor took her into a room within the church and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, which resulted in pregnancy,”
Acting on the information gathered by the police the pastor was arrested at his church premises
it was said that “On interrogation, he confessed to the commission of the crime but blamed it on the devil.
“He further confessed been the person who deflowered the victim, who was a JSS 2 student,”
However, lLanre Bankole, the commissioner of police in Ogun, issued an order transferring the case to the State CIID for additional investigation and potential prosecution
