Yekini Opeyemi, an ex-convict, was taken into custody by the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
Opeyemi, a security at Ojota New Garage, was arrested for having two stolen 2.8KVA generators in his hands.
The 35-year-old suspect was caught with others at Odo-Iya Alaro at Ojota (now at large).
He was attempting to fit two 2.8 KVA Firman and Tigmax generators into a Volkswagen Golf vehicle.
Opeyemi was left behind when the motorist drove off after spotting police officers.
Opeyemi came in Lagos last week, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the police’s public relations officer, and was hired by Ojota.
The security agency learned that the suspect had been jailed four times previously for unrelated offenses.
The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti, Yaba for additional investigation and prosecution, per the direction of Police Commissioner Abiodun Alabi.
