Donald Trump, the United States President-elect, has nominated Kashyap “Kash” Patel, a longtime ally, as the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social on Saturday, praising Patel’s qualifications and dedication.
“Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending justice, and protecting the American people,” Trump stated.
Highlighting Patel’s past work, Trump added, “He played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution.”
Patel, an attorney with expertise in national security, intelligence, and counterterrorism, has been a vocal critic of the FBI. He gained prominence for his role in exposing the bureau’s surveillance activities during Trump’s 2016 campaign and first term, according to Fox News.
Patel has also served on Trump’s transition team, advising on various administrative appointments.
