Dr Felix Kehinde (DFK), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Ondo East/West federal constituency, has carried out free health services targeting the aged in Ondo kingdom.
The event, which took place in Ondo city on Tuesday, was part of activities marking the Ekimogun Youth Week which was proudly sponsored by Dr Felix Kehinde.
Dr Kehinde who spoke through his representative, Hon. Gafar Akinkuolie, said the initiative was imperative to alleviate ailments and prevent killer diseases like hypertension and diabetes among the aged in Ondo kingdom.
According to him, “This program will go a long way in Ondo East and West. It is a way of bringing mobile clinics to the people, especially the aged who can not go through the stress of standing for hours at government hospitals that mostly lack basic facilities, drugs and health workers.
The free healthcare services included fasting blood sugar test, Blood pressure test, medical consultation and free drugs to over 200 beneficiaries.
The president of Ekimogun Youths Connect, Comrade Lucas Famakinwa said the Ekimogun Youth Week is a week-long program to mark the 2nd anniversary of the organization and appreciated Dr Felix Kehinde for agreeing to sponsor the free health services for the aged which was tagged WADAIGBO.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with newsmen said they have been waiting for this type of initiative for a long time and urged other political leaders in Ondo kingdom to emulate Dr Felix Kehinde.
Mrs Lucia Adebusuyi and Prince Adekoya Adeniyi commended Dr Kehinde for the kind initiative saying the treatment and free drugs will help them in so many ways.
Clothes and children’s toys were also given out to participants at the event.
Kehinde, a UK-based medical specialist, community leader and philanthropist, has carried out several of this type of program in the past through the Dr Felix Kehinde Livelihood Foundation that has impacted lives in Ondo kingdom through the provision of street lights, boreholes and road rehabilitation, to name a few.
