An Ilorin-based activist, Dele Aina has raised alarm over security of his life following his rescue of a child from a church where congregation members are allegedly brainwashed to disown their biological parents, as well as burn certificates.
According to him, the church is Evidence of Christ Fellowship International Church, situated at Agbo-Oba area in Ilorin, with the duo of Olumide Peter and Jasulayomi Adeola as presiding pastors.
Dele, in an exclusive interview with News Bulletin Nigeria, on Friday said that the pastors have sued him to court for trespassing on the church premises.
It is gathered that the pastors allegedly brainwashed their followers into burning their certificates and disowning their biological parents as they rebelled against Western education, proclaiming that any certificate obtained through it is evil.
“These people has a national network with people scouting children for them. A lawyer actually called me that she has a similar case with them in court slated January.
“The community has rescued two children from these people before but this one that I intervened was just one child named Amos. He is from Fiditi in Oyo State.
“They took me to court for trespassing on the church premises. I merely rescued a child named Amos Folaranmi. Parents of the child stood firmly with me in the court, but the case is gradually turning against me. If they want to overpower me I shall notify some prominent Ilorin people.”
Also speaking, Amos’ Mother, Mrs. Folaranmi Abosede confirmed the incident.
Mrs. Abosede, in two audio records obtained by News Bulletin Nigeria said she found it very strange that her own son could not recognize her a week after the rescue from the church.
Also, an Ilorin-based journalist, blogger and social critic, Abdulganiy Saad wrote “Dele Aina, a devote Christian & community right activist in Ilorin just messaged me that a Pastor who is notorious for forcefully abducting, brainwashing and converting muslim & other christian denominations children in Ilorin community just charged him to court for trespassing after he attempted to rescue the children in their captivity to their parent. He said the pastor brainwashed the children against their parents.
“We call on Kwara CAN & IEDPU to step into the matter before it boomerang. I wouldn’t have made this post if a muslim had sent it to me, but Boda Dele Aina is too nice to be ignored. Kindly share this post to call the attention of relevant authorities to this.”
On his Facebook account, Dele Aina wrote” what is the meaning of JESURUKAYAT or JESUIBRAHIM…(?)
“A church and you are forcefully converting Muslim children and some other children to Christians without the consent of their parents and you think I will support you. And you later make them to disown their parents because of how you have brainwashed them. Haba no way, this is just what we are also condemning in Boko Haram. The moment you get hold of them (i.e children), you seize their cell phones and disconnect them from their parents. Do the scripture support that? Do the doctrine supports the speration of a child from parents on that note? Do Jesus instructed us to force people to be Christians? No. How dare you use the house of the Lord to achieve ur personal interest and gains. everally you have been warned but this will be the last straw for them. Full details soonest.”
Recall that the duo had on made news in January 2021 for the same act.
The Pastors were charged with criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, wrongful imprisonment, and inducing fear of harm in order to commit extortion when they were brought before the Ilorin Magistrates’ Court on January 14, 2021.
The defendants were mandated to remain in the Oke-Kura Correctional Center in Ilorin by the Magistrate, Ibrahim Dasuki.
He then postponed the case until January 28 for additional discussion.
Earlier, Mr. Ajide Kehinde, the counsel for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), claimed that the corps had saved two children and four adults who had allegedly been kidnapped by the pastors.
He claimed that the defendants, who serve as pastors at the Evidence of Christ Fellowship International Church in Agbo-Oba, Ilorin, were anti-Western education and believed that any diploma obtained through it was bad.
Kehinde claimed that the pastors had been using filmed videos of the kids to demand money from international organizations while posing as victims of natural catastrophes and internally displaced people.
Further inquiry, according to Kehinde, showed that the pastors actively opposed Western education, inciting their church to reject it as sinful.
According to him, the crimes violated Sections 96, 100, 260, and 293 of the Penal Code Law.
On the grounds that one of the defendants was still at large, the attorney asked the court to remand the defendants.
He asserted that the suspects’ release on bond may compromise efforts to conduct a thorough inquiry into the situation.
However, the defendants entered a plea of not guilty to the accusations made against them.
