The Diocesan Bishop of Ilesa North Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Dr Isaac Oluyamo has charged the Christian faithfuls to armed themselves with prayers and faith in the face of insecurity challenges in the country.
Oluyamo stated this at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ilase-Ijesa on Saturday during Presidential Address (Bishop Charge) themed, “VISION”.
“What the church should do is my concern. The church should pray and continue to pray and God will take control. My advice is that we should take our armour, and our armour is prayer. Some people are calling for guns but what I believe is that our armour is prayer. Our amour is our faith.
“I think the government has been doing what it has to do. The Governor of the Ondo State, Akeredolu is on seat and will do all he has to do.
He afterwards charged the governments at all levels to put more effort in curbing insecurity.
“The Government should do more. I’m sure when they do all they have to do, God will take control.
In the same lane, the Senator representing Osun east senatorial district, Francis Fadahunsi said the Federal Government of Nigeria is no longer reliable and asked for the church to protect itself.
“The Federal Government is no longer reliable. It is the Church that must protect itself. Since attacks are targeted at the church, the church should have its own army. They should make their own internal security arrangements instead of waiting for any slaughterer to come and slaughter them in the church.
“People coming to attack them are human beings, and they (church goers) are human beings too. Jesus has given them the power, Pastor Adeboye has given the solutions.”
