John Elton, a seasoned performer, declared his decision to stop using Twitter due to false information.
Elton said on Friday that he was leaving Twitter via his verified account due to a change in policy that, in his opinion, has allowed misinformation to proliferate.
He tweeted, “All my life I’ve tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me to see how misinformation is now being used to divide our world.
“I’ve decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked.”
Responding to Elton’s tweet, the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, said, “I love your music. Hope you come back. Is there any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?”
