Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Nigeria must go beyond its reliance on oil and can make the transition to the industrial revolution by improving its physical infrastructure.
Obi has promised to dramatically reduce government expenses and corruption if given the opportunity to lead.
Anambra State’s previous governor’s verified Twitter account made this information public on Sunday afternoon in a series of tweets.
When discussing cost-cutting strategies, Obi said he would do his best to balance the country’s budget within the constraints of the resources at his disposal.
He wrote, “As a nation, Nigeria must look beyond oil.
“We, therefore, intend to leapfrog Nigeria from oil to the Fourth Industrial Revolution by expanding physical infrastructure through market-driven reforms that will unleash growth-enabling entrepreneurship and market-creating innovations and market-creating innovations. To ensure sustainability and resilience, we will stop borrowing for consumption.
“It is also imperative that henceforth, we should strive to operate within available resources and strive for a balanced national budget as cost saving measures.”
