A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Kwara State, Honourable Bukoye Marooph Bintinlaye has reacted to a viral video depicting a man who looks like Seni Saraki, son of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki spraying hard currencies on a girl at what looked like a strippers’ club.
The video went viral on social media Thursday – Friday, with everyone commenting his observations.
But, in a statement on Saturday, Bintinlaye said that the Sarakis had no link to the video in circulation.
The man in the video was afterwards identified as Prince Shola Taoreed Oniru.
“Today, the Saraki Dynasty is victories again, as the man is viral video has been dully and dutifully identified. However, this is not the first or the second time we have seen such campaign of lies and hate launched again Dr. Bukola Saraki.
“The writing on the wall is familiar. Those carrying out this campaign of calumny against Dr. Bukola Saraki are doing so at the behest of the same man who was imposed on the state. Their desperation to drag the exalted image of Sarakis into the lagoon is beyond obvious. It appears that some people are not satisfied with their stolen mandate, they want to commit atrocious acts through orchestrated campaign of lies.
“We understand they are at a crossroad. It is campaign time and Kwarans know better now. They realized that the bigger battle was winning the hearts and minds of the people, that that is proving difficult; hence they result to cheap propaganda.
“They have woefully failed to gain the minds of Kwara State’s people in the last three years, this explains their desperation. So desperate that they are now working with political renegades across party lines.
“In 2019, Dr. Bukola Saraki was their nightmare. But they have also realised to their utmost chagrin that even out of office, he remains bigger nemesis, hence the unceasing campaign of calumny with the sole purpose of damaging his image and putting a wedge between him and Kwarans.
“Nothing is off-limits for them when doing this. They have fabricated videos, lied, and made the most of social media tossing mud to see who sticks. In this evil effort, they make use of issues that are very important to our people. It is absurd and hilarious.
“However, as a party, we should resolve not to remain mute in the face of this criminal defamation because it will only get worse as the 2023 elections draw nearer.
Bintinlaye also urged security agencies to investigate the source of the video attributed to Sanni Saraki.
“But because our people are smarter than that, I am not very concerned. But we can’t keep letting crime take over society forever. I thus implore the security agencies to look into and prosecute those responsible for this obvious fake. Criminal activity shouldn’t be viewed as a kind of government. Kwarans deserve better. “
