In Ogun State, a 40-year-old man named Taofeek Sulaiman was detained for defiling his 13-year-old stepdaughter.
Detectives from Owode Yewa divisional headquarters detained Sulaiman yesterday after the victim’s mother reported the crime.
After losing her first spouse, the girl’s father, the mother claimed she wed the suspect.
Detectives were informed by the woman’s daughter that the suspect had been sleeping with her since October 14 and that he had also been threatening to kill her if she told anybody about the alleged deed.
According to police spokeswoman Abimbola Oyeyemi, detectives entered the scene and detained the suspect at the direction of Chief Superintendent of Police Muhammed Baba, the Divisional Police Officer for the Owode Yewa division (CSP).
The victim was brought by the police to Idiroko General Hospital for medical treatment.
