Man In Police Net For Trafficking Nigerian Girls To Libya

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old landlady, Nafisat Lateef, over allegations that she poisoned the three-year-old son of her tenant in Odigbo Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday morning at the tenant’s residence in Omifon, Odigbo. Police sources revealed that the suspect allegedly administered a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous to the child, Abdulrasheed, following a minor disagreement with his mother, 32-year-old Rofiyat.

Abdulrasheed began vomiting shortly after consuming the substance and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received prompt medical attention. Fortunately, his condition has since stabilised.

Detectives, acting swiftly on intelligence, apprehended the suspect and recovered the liquid alleged to have been used in the attack.

DSP Jimoh Abayomi, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the arrest, noting that the suspect had provided useful statements during interrogation. “Investigations are ongoing, and the case will be charged to court upon conclusion,” Abayomi said.

The police also used the opportunity to caution residents against allowing landlord-tenant disagreements to escalate, stressing that such conflicts can sometimes lead to criminal acts.

“The Ondo State Police Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property. We urge the public to remain law-abiding and continue providing timely and credible information to assist crime prevention efforts,” Abayomi added.
