APC Replaces Gov Uzodimma With Masari As Convention Committee Chair

….Names Senator Anyim, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq Vice Chairmen

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has replaced Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, with former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, as Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026.

The development was announced in a statement signed by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Surajudeen Basiru, and posted on the APC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.

According to the statement, the reconstitution followed further consultations with party leadership and key national stakeholders.

“In further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention has been reconstituted.

“Sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course,” the statement said.

Uzodimma, who was earlier unveiled as chairman of the committee, has now been reassigned to serve as Treasurer following the fresh restructuring approved by the party leadership.

The APC also expanded the membership of the committee from 73 to 90 members, with the inclusion of additional party chieftains, including Senator Barry Mpigi and other senior figures within the party.

Under the revised arrangement, former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, was appointed Vice Chairman I, while the Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was named Vice Chairman II.

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was retained as Secretary of the committee.

The changes come just days after the APC had initially announced Uzodimma as chairman of the 73-member committee, a move that signalled heightened preparations for the national convention.

The March convention is expected to be a major event for the ruling party, as it will culminate in the election of new members into the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), a process widely seen as crucial to shaping the APC’s internal structure ahead of future political engagements.
