The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State has accused former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of failing to deliver meaningful development to his home community during his time in office.
The allegation was made during an APC stakeholders’ meeting held in Tambuwal, where the party’s local government chairman, Isa Sadiq Achida, said the former governor did not provide significant projects or improvements for the area despite his long stay in public office.
Achida also criticised reports of Tambuwal’s involvement in a new political coalition, describing the alliance as a gathering of familiar political actors rather than a genuine reform movement. He urged residents, particularly young people, to support continuity in governance instead of aligning with what he called recycled political interests.
The meeting also witnessed the formal reception of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including three former councillors who pledged loyalty to the ruling party.
Speaking on behalf of the Tambuwal Local Government Chairman, the Council Leader, Nasiru Jabo, reaffirmed the council’s commitment to strengthening the APC’s grassroots support and improving its electoral performance in future polls.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Ala, announced that the state government had approved the establishment of three secondary schools in the local government area, describing the move as part of ongoing efforts to expand access to education.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Aminu Dikko, added that several indigenes of Tambuwal had been appointed into political offices under the present administration. He also dismissed speculation about his personal political ambitions, pledging to abide by party decisions.
