Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Cybernovr Launch 4-Week Cybersecurity Empowerment Programme for Youths

The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, in partnership with Cybernovr, has commenced a 4-week Cybersecurity Awareness and Empowerment Programme for youths.

The programme, which targets 25 members of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Youths Association of Nigeria (ADYAN) of Nigeria, is sponsored by the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Dr. Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem, SAN.

It is designed to empower participants to navigate Nigeria’s fast-growing digital space safely, responsibly and productively.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Cybernovr, Dr. Kazeem Durodoye, a global cybersecurity expert, delivered a keynote presentation titled “You Too Can Be Great: The Power of Vision, Hard Work and Tenacity.”

He outlined the structure and scope of the training, stressing that cybersecurity is no longer optional in today’s interconnected world but a vital life skill.

The opening session featured prayers, a welcome address by the Ansar-Ud-Deen Education Secretary, an introduction to the Cybernovr Education and Awareness Programme (CEAP) by Dr. Durodoye, interactive question-and-answer sessions, and a closing prayer.

Delivering the welcome address on behalf of the National President, the National Education Secretary of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prof. Abdulwaheed Olatinwo, described the initiative as timely and strategic.

He noted that while the digital space offers immense opportunities for learning, innovation and enterprise, it also exposes young people to risks such as scams, cyberbullying and privacy breaches.

Olatinwo said: “Cybersecurity is not just about technology; it is about empowering our youths to own and protect their digital lives….This training is designed to help you stay safe, smart and responsible online, while also opening your eyes to exciting career opportunities in cybersecurity.”

He formally declared the training open, urging participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to become responsible digital citizens.

According to the organisers, the programme aims to build participants’ confidence in exploring the digital and social media landscape while introducing them to a wide range of career prospects in the cybersecurity sector.

The training covers a comprehensive set of modules, including an introduction to cybersecurity fundamentals, identity and access management, cyber threat awareness, ethical hacking and basic coding, cyber laws and regulations, digital literacy and critical thinking, responsible use of social media, data and privacy management, cyber hygiene practices, and career pathways in cybersecurity.

Participants will also be trained on managing online abuse and fraud, with guidance on reporting cybercrime and seeking legal redress through appropriate law enforcement channels in Nigeria.

The initiative reinforces the commitment of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria and Cybernovr to youth development, digital literacy and the creation of a safer, more secure online environment for young Nigerians.
