The Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI), Osun State, on Wednesday concluded its maiden orientation programme for the first set of students admitted into the institution.
The 3-day event concluded with university principal officers and resource persons enlightening the students on key academic, administrative and security matters.
The series of events were held at the university’s Take-off Campus, Oke Iragbiji, and featured a series of lectures aimed at properly integrating the pioneer students into the university system.
Earlier in the day, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mufutau Olaoye Atayese, ably represented by the University Librarian, Prof. Wasiu Lawal, formally declared Day 3 of the orientation programme open.
He also charged the students to embrace discipline, academic excellence and good conduct as foundational values for their university life.
Activities commenced with the recitation of the National Anthem, symbolising unity and national responsibility, before the students filed into the hall for the day’s sessions.
The Registrar of the university, Mr. Tunde Afolabi, delivered a paper titled “Registry Administration in a University Setting: Direction for Students’ Academic Progression.”
He explained the role of the Registry in managing students’ records and academic affairs.
He also advised the students to familiarise themselves with university procedures to ensure smooth academic progression.
Also speaking, the Bursar of FUADSI, Mr. Akeem Adewuyi Adeagbo, presented a paper titled “Bursary Department and Students.”
He educated the students on financial regulations, payment procedures and their responsibilities in matters relating to fees and other financial obligations.
He however enjoined them on importance of transparency and compliance.
The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the university, CSP Ayole Tajudeen Jide (Rtd.), rounded off the lectures with a presentation on “University Security and Administration: Importance, Concerns, Care during Emergencies, and Limits of Students’ Activities.”
He emphasised that security is a shared responsibility and warned students against actions that could threaten peace and order on campus.
He also sensitised them on safety consciousness and emergency response procedures.
The orientation programme was designed to acquaint the pioneer students with the academic culture, administrative structure and security framework of FUADSI as they commence their academic journey in the new institution.
