The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fine-tuned its operations for the ongoing Phase II Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Osun State, approving the rotation of its Voter Enrolment Devices to bring registration closer to the people.
The adjustment, authorised by the Commission’s National Headquarters in Abuja, will see the INEC Voter Enrolment Devices (IVEDs) redeployed across Registration Areas within each local government, a move designed to widen access for eligible voters and reduce logistical bottlenecks.
The decision was disclosed in a statement issued in Osogbo by the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke, and signed by the Commission’s Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurode.
According to INEC, the rotation exercise is scheduled to commence on Monday, February 2, and will run until Friday, April 10, 2026, spanning 50 days across designated locations. The Commission added that the final week of the Phase II CVR would be conducted exclusively at INEC local government area offices across the state, to accommodate residents who may have missed earlier opportunities.
INEC explained that the revised approach was informed by operational realities on the ground, including long travel distances to council offices, congestion at registration centres and uneven access to registration services in some communities.
The Commission reiterated that the CVR remains open to Nigerians who have attained the age of 18 and are yet to be captured in the national voters’ register. It also covers registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, correct errors on their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or replace cards that are lost or damaged.
Reaffirming its commitment to credible elections, INEC said the initiative aligns with its constitutional mandate to promote inclusiveness, transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
The Commission assured that detailed schedules for the rotation of enrolment devices would be communicated through its official channels, urging members of the public to seize the opportunity and cooperate with its officials throughout the registration period.
