The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally commenced a nationwide electronic membership registration exercise, marking a strategic shift by the ruling party towards digital consolidation and internal reorganisation.
The initiative, which covers the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was announced on Wednesday by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to Prof. Yilwatda, the exercise will be conducted at the ward level across the country, ensuring grassroots participation while leveraging technology to enhance accuracy and efficiency. He explained that existing party members are required to validate their membership online, while new and prospective members are encouraged to enrol through the platform.
The APC chairman described the registration drive as a critical step towards strengthening the party’s internal structures, improving documentation and ensuring inclusive participation in party affairs and decision-making processes.
He noted that a credible and up-to-date membership register would position the party for better organisation, accountability and strategic planning ahead of future political engagements.
“A stronger register means a stronger party and a more united progressive movement,” Prof. Yilwatda stated.
He further urged party faithful to embrace the initiative, describing it as an opportunity to deepen internal democracy, renew collective commitment to progressive ideals and move the party forward in a rapidly evolving political environment.
