Ex-Osun SSG Adeoti Quits Omoluabi Progressives, Citing Family Pressure and Need for Political Pause

Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, a towering figure in Osun’s progressive politics and former Secretary to the State Government, has formally stepped away from the Omoluabi Progressives, ending his long-standing association with the group he helped build from the ground up.

In a letter dated 30 November and addressed to the group’s chairman, Adeoti—who until now served as Deputy Leader—announced his immediate withdrawal from the organisation and all its activities. He admitted the decision did not come lightly, especially given his years of personal, political and financial investment in keeping the group afloat during its formative and most challenging phases.

Adeoti explained that persistent pleas from his immediate and extended family, urging him to take a short break from the intensity of partisan engagements, ultimately shaped his resolve to step aside.

Expressing gratitude to members for the trust reposed in him over the years, Adeoti wished the current leadership continued success as the group navigates its future.

His exit, coming at a critical juncture for the faction, is expected to reshape internal alignments and ignite fresh political recalibrations within Osun’s progressive circle.
