Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have asked Governor Seyi Makinde to begin drafting his handover note, declaring that the political climate in the state is shifting in favour of the opposition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking at a press briefing at the party’s secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the State APC Youth Leader, Comrade John Aremu, said young members of the party are mobilising aggressively to “rescue” the state from what he described as the “bondage” imposed by the current Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration.
Aremu maintained that the ruling party should brace for its “inevitable exit,” noting that progressive-minded youths within the APC are prepared to take responsibility for what they call a new era of governance.
He pointed to the reconciliation between Senator Teslim Folarin and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, as a critical turning point for the opposition in the state. The renewed harmony, he said, signals a united front capable of mounting a formidable challenge in the next electoral cycle.
According to him, the forthcoming APC Youth Summit will serve as a strategic platform to restructure party units, deepen grassroots mobilisation and rally young members behind a single progressive agenda.
The summit, he added, will unveil a youth-led roadmap designed around digital advocacy, political mobilisation, community outreach and issue-based campaigns tailored to win public confidence and reclaim the state.
“We must begin shaping the future of Oyo today,” Aremu said, stressing that the youth wing is ready to drive the transformational push required to reposition the state on a sustainable development trajectory.
