Panic has swept through Isapa community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State after armed terrorists stormed the settlement late Monday, abducting a pregnant woman, 10 children, two nursing mothers and several other residents.
Witnesses said between 20 and 30 gunmen descended on the community, advancing with a large herd of cattle while firing shots indiscriminately. An elderly woman was reportedly hit by a stray bullet during the chaos, heightening the sense of fear as families scrambled for safety.
A prominent community leader, who spoke with National Pilot, confirmed that at least 11 people had been taken, seven of whom belong to the same family. The abducted victims were identified as Talatu Kabiru, Magaji, Kande, Hadiza, Mariam, Saima, Habibat (a housewife), Fatima Yusufu (a housewife), Sarah Sunday (pregnant woman), Lami Fidelis (a nursing mother), and Haja Na Allah.
Residents said the attackers moved swiftly, navigating bush paths that link Isapa to neighbouring communities around Eruku, disappearing before local vigilantes could respond. The strike has again heightened anxiety in the region, which has endured repeated onslaughts from armed groups.
The incident follows closely on the heels of the abduction of 38 worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in the area earlier this month, a tragic attack in which several victims were reportedly killed before security forces intervened.
