Osun 2026: APM Sets December 13 Date for Governorship Primary

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has scheduled its Osun State governorship primary for 13 December 2025, signalling the party’s readiness to join the contest ahead of next year’s election cycle.

State chairman of the party, Hon. Adewale Adebayo, announced the date in a statement on Friday, stressing that the selection process would be transparent and fully compliant with democratic principles. He cautioned aspirants against divisive rhetoric, warning that campaigns of calumny would not be tolerated.

According to him, six aspirants are currently vying for the party’s ticket, and the primary would produce a flag bearer capable of mounting a credible challenge against the incumbent administration.

Adebayo expressed confidence that the APM’s strength lies in its youthful membership, describing it as a strategic advantage in an election season that is expected to be heavily influenced by youth turnout.

He said voter frustration with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presents fertile ground for the APM to position itself as a viable alternative. He criticised the leading parties for what he called “persistent maladministration” in Osun, urging residents seeking a fresh political platform to consider the APM.

The chairman also appealed to party leaders to intensify mobilisation efforts, targeting both young people and the elderly. He noted that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise had seen thousands of new supporters enlist with the party, but emphasised the need to convert more undecided residents into committed members.

Adebayo reiterated that the party would run an issue-based campaign anchored on unity, discipline and strategic engagement, saying the APM remains open to credible individuals leaving other political parties.
