Unidentified gunmen have abducted Abubakar Sise, former Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Boriya–Shiya Ward, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, in a daring early-morning attack on Thursday. Reports indicate that a Catholic priest was also targeted in a separate incident in the area.

Eyewitnesses recounted how the assailants, armed and masked, stormed Sise’s compound around midnight, discharging multiple gunshots into the air to frighten residents. One of Sise’s sons, returning home late, was intercepted and forced at gunpoint to summon his father, who was then abducted while other family members were left unharmed.

By daybreak, spent shells and live rounds littered the scene, a grim testament to the violence of the brief but terrifying ordeal, which lasted only a few minutes.

The Boriya vigilante group responded swiftly, combing nearby areas in an attempt to locate the abductors and secure Sise’s release.

Kwara State Police Commissioner, Ojo Adekimi, acknowledged on Friday that he was not immediately aware of the incident but assured the public that a thorough investigation would commence.

As of this report, the whereabouts of Abubakar Sise remain unknown, prompting growing concern among residents and political associates.
