Jigawa Approves N30bn Road Projects In Miga

The Jigawa State Government has approved the construction of three major road projects in Miga Local Government Area, valued at over ₦30 billion, as part of its renewed commitment to infrastructural expansion across the state.

Governor Malam Umar Namadi disclosed this during the official flag-off of the Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa road project in Miga, describing the initiative as a crucial step toward boosting agricultural productivity and rural development.

Namadi noted that Miga serves as one of Jigawa’s leading agricultural zones, endowed with vast Fadama and irrigation facilities that enable year-round farming. He explained that the newly approved roads would improve farmers’ access to markets, ease the transportation of produce, and stimulate economic activities in the area.

“The 30-kilometre Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa feeder road, awarded at the cost of ₦7 billion, will be completed within 12 months,” the governor said, adding that the project was part of his administration’s resolve to fulfil its campaign promises.

The governor made the disclosure during the Government Citizens Engagement Programme (Gwamnatin Da Jama’a) held in Miga, where he also inaugurated a rural electrification project in Koya Village.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdullahi Kainuwa, outlined several interventions in the local government, including the renovation of Miga General Hospital and primary health centres, the recruitment of new health workers, and the enrolment of over 7,000 vulnerable residents into the state’s Social Health Insurance Scheme.

Also, the Commissioner for Education revealed that the government had invested more than ₦5 billion in rehabilitating classrooms, constructing new blocks, and providing furniture and essential learning materials to schools across the area.

Governor Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s determination to continue investing in infrastructure and human capital development, stressing that his government remains focused on projects that directly enhance the living standards of Jigawa citizens.

“Our goal is to ensure that every part of Jigawa feels the impact of government through meaningful projects that drive inclusive growth and improve livelihoods,” he said.
