Ogun FRSC Mourns Spokesperson, Florence Okpe

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe.

Okpe, who had reportedly been battling an undisclosed illness, died on Tuesday, 28th October 2025, while on her annual leave in her hometown in Cross River State.

Confirming the sad development, the Ogun Sector Commander, CC Akinwumi O. Fasakin, described the late spokesperson as a dedicated and exemplary officer who served the corps with distinction and professionalism.

“The command received with heavy heart the news of the demise of CRC Florence N. Okpe from one of her family members,” Fasakin said in a statement on Wednesday. “She reportedly passed away on October 28 in her hometown while still on annual leave. Until this unfortunate incident, she was the Ogun Sector Command’s Public Education Officer — hardworking, resourceful and deeply committed to her duty.”

He added that details surrounding the cause of her death remain sketchy, assuring that the command would provide further updates once the family and relevant authorities release more information.

Okpe was widely respected within the FRSC for her passion for public enlightenment and road safety advocacy, often serving as the face and voice of the corps in Ogun State through regular engagement with the media and the public.

Her sudden passing has left her colleagues and associates in shock, with many describing her as “a disciplined officer who embodied the ideals of the FRSC.”

The Ogun FRSC command said it is in contact with the deceased’s family to provide necessary support during this period of grief.
