Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, has dismissed rumours linking him with a secret defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing such claims as baseless and beneath his political stature.
Suswam, who spoke on Sunday during a courtesy visit to the Makurdi residence of Professor Saasongo Nongu, said he remained a committed and proud member of the ADC, vowing to continue strengthening the party’s presence in Benue and beyond.
The former lawmaker, who represented Benue North-East in the Senate, maintained that he owed his political loyalty to his supporters and would not betray their trust through any backdoor move.
“I am too big to dump the ADC in secret,” Suswam declared. “Leaving the party quietly would not only be disgraceful but a betrayal of those who have stood by me through thick and thin.”
He urged members of the ADC to close ranks and rally behind Hon. Mzondu, whom he described as a visionary and dependable leader capable of sustaining the party’s ideals.
“Politics is about trust, loyalty, and integrity,” Suswam noted. “We must build our party around these values if we are to remain relevant in the political landscape.”
In his response, Mzondu lauded Suswam for his leadership and mentorship, pledging continued loyalty to both the former governor and the party.
“Senator Suswam has been a political father to me,” Mzondu said. “His guidance has shaped my political journey, and I remain committed to him and to the cause of our great party.”
