Fabrizio Romano claims that Karim Benzema and Real Madrid are close to agreeing on a new contract.
A contract extension is anticipated to keep the legendary France forward at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for a another season after his current agreement expires in the summer of 2023.
It is believed that the transaction will soon be finalized because Benzema has already informed Los Blancos of his decision to accept the club’s contract offer.
All members of the club’s board, including president Florentino Perez and manager Carlo Ancelotti, have agreed to retain Benzema on for an additional season.
This is not surprising given the influence the former Lyon player has had since relocating to Spain. In just 46 games last season, he scored 44 goals and assisted another 15, 15 of which came in the Champions League as he led the team to its fifth championship.
His eight games this season have resulted in four goals and an assist, bringing his career total for Real Madrid to a very outstanding 327 goals and 160 assists in 613 appearances.
