A total of 59 students from Offa, Kwara State, have benefited from a scholarship initiative spearheaded by a House of Assembly hopeful for Eesa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency, Hon. Bolaji Abdulrauf (Hon. BJ).
The beneficiaries include 38 students under the general scholarship scheme, 17 students from the Offa Students’ Union (OSU) Summer School, and 4 students who received WAEC sponsorships.
This marked another milestone in Hon. Bolaji’s commitment to supporting education and empowering young minds across his constituency.
The initiative builds on Hon. Bolaji’s earlier sponsorship of the 2025 Offa Students’ Union Summer School Programme, during which he pledged scholarships for outstanding participants. True to his promise, he not only honoured the commitment but expanded the gesture to include more students facing financial challenges.
Speaking about the initiate, Hon. Bolaji emphasized that education remains the strongest weapon against poverty and ignorance, reiterating his resolve to ensure no child is denied access to learning due to lack of funds.
“Education remains the strongest weapon to fight poverty and ignorance. Every child deserves a fair chance, not because of who their parents are, but because of what they can become,” he said.
He further disclosed that he had redirected funds initially earmarked for an inter-school educational programme toward paying school fees for more indigent students.
Beneficiary schools include Anglican Comprehensive College, Tawakalitu Grammar School, Taoheed Senior Secondary School, Iyeru-Okin Grammar School, Moremi High School, Government Day Secondary School, Ansaru Ud-Deen College, Ansaru Islam Senior Secondary School, Olalomi Comprehensive College, Nawal Ud-Deen Grammar School, and Offa Grammar School.
