Kwara State House of Assembly member representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency, Ogbeni Seun David Ogunniyi Adato, has urged Nigerians to reflect deeply on the nation’s 65-year journey and renew their personal commitment to building a progressive and united country.
In his Independence Day message made available to newsmen earlier today, the lawmaker described October 1st as not just a celebration of sovereignty, but also a time for sober reflection on the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and the resilience of citizens who have continued to sustain the country as the pride of Africa.
“This independence anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on our journey of nationhood and our individual commitments to upholding the ideals of a progressive society,” Adato said.
He stressed that the sacrifices of heroes and heroines—past and present—must never be forgotten as he acknowledge the nation’s progress since 1960.
He noted that Nigeria has both opportunities and challenges, but maintained that the hurdles facing the country are not beyond collective resolve.
“As a nation, there are prospects of growth, opportunities, fulfilled dreams and aspirations, and even challenges. But our challenges, though daunting, are not insurmountable,” he stated.
The legislator particularly sympathized with families who have lost loved ones to insecurity and criminality, assuring them that their sacrifices will not be in vain.
He expressed optimism that with renewed patriotism and joint effort, insecurity and other national challenges can be overcome.
“With renewed patriotism and our collective resolve to always do our part, we shall defeat our common enemy of insecurity, and our country and beloved Kwara State will emerge stronger and better,” Adato added.
He congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the 65th anniversary of Independence, urging them to remain steadfast in promoting unity, peace, and development.
