President Bola Tinubu has approved automatic employment for the four children of the late Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Grace Adayilo.
The announcement was made on Saturday by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, during the funeral service held at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.
The well-attended ceremony drew senior government officials, civil servants, family, and friends who gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased, described as a dedicated and humble technocrat.
Wike, speaking on behalf of the President, described Adayilo’s death as a “painful loss” to the civil service and the nation. He noted that her legacy of hard work, transparency, and commitment to the welfare of staff in the FCTA would remain indelible.
“The President has directed that her four children be given automatic employment, knowing fully well that the family has lost its breadwinner,” Wike announced.
He further hailed Adayilo’s role in ensuring timely salary payments, her community service, and her reputation as a rallying figure among her colleagues.
Speakers at the funeral extolled her virtues, recalling her as a motherly figure and a selfless leader who touched lives through her public service and personal compassion.
Wike urged Nigerians to emulate her devotion to duty and humanity, stressing the brevity of life and the importance of living in service to others.
Dr. Adayilo’s death, many agreed, has left a void in the FCT Administration, but her life and legacy continue to inspire.
