Osun Judiciary Workers Down Tools Over Welfare Demands

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State chapter, has ordered its members to immediately withdraw their services in protest over unresolved welfare issues.

The directive, contained in a statement signed by the union’s chairman, Idris Adeniran, was issued on Friday in Osogbo.

Adeniran accused the Osun State Judicial Service Commission, chaired by the Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, of neglecting workers’ welfare despite repeated appeals. He noted that a letter dated September 3, 2025, and a subsequent three-day ultimatum had been ignored.

“Despite our letter and ultimatum, the commission has failed to engage with our leadership. This silence reflects a disturbing disregard for the rule of law and industrial harmony,” Adeniran said.

Among the demands tabled by the union are the implementation of 2024/2025 staff promotions, sponsorship of judiciary workers for National Judicial Institute training, and improved welfare packages already extended to other ministries and parastatals in the state.

He added, “We are compelled to take decisive action. All staff are therefore directed to withdraw their services and refrain from reporting to work effective immediately. We urge all members to stand in solidarity as we press for our rights.”
