Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has restored calm in the Ife chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after weeks of internal wrangling triggered by a vote of no confidence ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The governor, during a crucial peace meeting with stakeholders on Monday, described the rift as a product of miscommunication and external interference, warning members to resist plots aimed at dividing the party.
“I saw a united PDP family in Ile-Ife today. The disagreement was not fundamental but a communication gap, exploited by outsiders bent on weakening us,” Adeleke said.
He urged party leaders and grassroots mobilisers to redouble efforts, stressing that his administration had delivered key projects to Ife land and was determined to sustain the tempo. “Ile-Ife is PDP territory. Let us remain focused on victory,” he charged.
PDP State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, dismissed the earlier vote of no confidence as a family affair now laid to rest. “Stakeholders have shown love for the party. The resolution here is clear: mobilisation meetings must resume immediately, and any act that looks like anti-party will be firmly rejected,” he told members.
The meeting had in attendance Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi, and Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, among other party heavyweights.
