HRM Oba Mufutau Esuwoye II Commissions LEAH Medical Diagnostic Centre in Offa

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I, earlier today commissioned the newly established LEAH Medical and Diagnostic Centre in Offa, Kwara State.

The Centre, founded by the LEAH Foundation of former First Lady of Kwara State, Her Excellency, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed, is designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services with a focus on tackling cancer and related diseases.

Represented by the Asalofa of Offa, High Chief Isiaka Adebayo Shittu, the monarch lauded Mrs. Ahmed for her consistency in championing humanitarian causes, particularly her advocacy for cancer awareness and early detection.

“We are very happy and we thank God that has been helping Her Excellency Omolewa Ahmed for her giant humanitarian strides, especially in the fight against cancer. The Olofa assures you that you won’t regret bringing this project to Offa. Offa is passionate about development and will ensure the Centre is well projected and supported,” he said.

The facility, which was inspired by the warm reception the Foundation received during its prostate cancer screening project in Offa in February 2024, will offer a wide range of diagnostic services including Cancer Screening, Histopathology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Ultrasound, Electrocardiography, Echocardiography, X-ray, Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening.

Chief Medical Director of the Centre, Dr. Gregory Oyinloye, described the project as a product of collaboration and community encouragement.

“This journey started when we came to Offa for a screening outreach earlier this year. The reception we received gave us the courage to establish this Centre. Today, it is a reality, and we are grateful to the Olofa and the people of Offa for their support,” he said.

Other chiefs at the event included the Bobaselu of Offa, Chief (Mrs) Wosilat Atinuke Macarthy; the Alawe of Offa, Chief Tijani Ibrahim; the Alagure of Offa, Chief Bode Onawola; and the Esinkin of Offa, Chief Abdulfatai Oyeyemi Lawal.

Guests were later taken on a guided tour of the facility, visiting the phlebotomy unit, laboratory, scan rooms, consulting rooms, and X-ray department.

The commissioning further cements the LEAH Foundation’s mission of improving lives through its SHE (Social Welfare, Health, Empowerment) model, which has over the years focused on education, healthcare, and women empowerment.
