[PHOTOS] Kwara NLA Honours Four Retiring Members As FEDPOFFA Bids Farewell To 15 Staff

The Kwara State Chapter of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) has applauded four of its members who were among the 15 celebrated retirees honoured at the Fifth Grand Farewell Retirement Ceremony of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa (FEDPOFFA), held on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The colourful event, which took place at the Polytechnic’s 1000-Capacity Auditorium, was attended by dignitaries, staff, professional associations, family, and friends, all gathered to celebrate the retirees for their years of meritorious service.

Among those honoured were notable NLA members: Dr. Mulikat Bolajoko Aliyu, Deputy Rector Academics; Dr. Femi Quadri, former Polytechnic Librarian; Mr. A. A. Kolawole, former Director of Quality Assurance; and Mr. Olusegun Kayode, former Examination Officer, Library and Information Science.

Leading a strong delegation to the ceremony, the Kwara State NLA Executive Council headed by Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajani (Chairperson), alongside Mr. Muhammad Ilias (Secretary), Mr. Mahammoud Sulyman O. (Assistant Secretary), Mr. Joel Afolayan (Financial Secretary), and Mrs. O. Olani (former Chairperson) paid glowing tributes to the retiring librarians. They commended their commitment to advancing the library profession, their mentorship of younger colleagues, and their remarkable contributions to FEDPOFFA’s academic development.

Speaking at the event, the NLA leadership described the honourees as exemplary figures whose careers have left indelible marks both within the institution and the wider professional body.

The ceremony also featured goodwill messages, reflections, and cultural displays as the Polytechnic community celebrated the 15 retirees across various departments.

Management officials lauded their dedication and urged serving staff to emulate their virtues of hard work, integrity, and professionalism.

The Kwara NLA reaffirmed its commitment to celebrating excellence among its members, noting that the recognition of the four retiring librarians would inspire younger professionals to uphold the ethics of librarianship and service to humanity.
