Nigerian culinary sensation, Hilda Baci, is set to attempt another world record — this time by cooking the largest pot of jollof rice.
In an Instagram post on Friday, the celebrity chef announced that the historic meal would be prepared in a pot measuring six metres wide and six metres high.
According to her, the project has been in the works for two years, and she expressed delight that the dream is finally about to come true.
Baci explained that the event would not only mark a culinary milestone but also serve as a cultural festival celebrating Nigerian cuisine, music, and community spirit. The cook-off is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it is Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa,” she wrote.
“A taste that tells our story. It is more than cooking, it is a celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us. We are making history again, and I want you to be there when it happens.”
She added that the challenge was inspired by her long-time vision of creating the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice ever seen. The event, she revealed, is being supported by seasoning giant, Gino.
Baci first shot into the global spotlight in May 2023 when she set a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Her record, however, was later broken by Irish chef Alan Fisher in November of the same year.
