Nigeria Consul-General In Cameroon, Ambassador Taofik Coker, Is Dead

Nigeria’s Consul-General in Cameroon, Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, has passed away.

His death was confirmed on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and signed by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

According to the statement, Ambassador Coker died on Saturday, August 16, after a brief illness.

Describing the late diplomat as a “hardworking and dedicated career officer,” Ebienfa said Coker served Nigeria with distinction and professionalism in various capacities.

“His untimely death, therefore, is a great loss to the diplomatic community and the nation at large,” the ministry noted.

Before his posting to Buea, Cameroon, Ambassador Coker had served Nigeria in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends, while praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
