Osun

An ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Abdulsalami Olaitan, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State.

Olaitan, a former National Coordinator of Umbrella for Every Home and erstwhile Secretary of the Atiku Abubakar Southwest Assembly, described the move as the beginning of “a new political chapter.”

In a statement made available to NEWSBULLETIN on Tuesday, the Osun politician reflected on his time in the PDP, noting that the party provided him with a platform to learn, serve and collaborate with passionate individuals.

While expressing gratitude for the experiences and opportunities gained, Olaitan said his decision was guided by conscience and courage, stressing that his resignation did not amount to a retreat but rather a step into “a new phase of bold political engagement.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to championing justice, accountability and progress, despite acknowledging the uncertainty that lies ahead.

In his resignation letter, addressed to his PDP Ward Chairman and sighted by AMILOADED, Olaitan recounted his active participation in governorship and presidential elections, which he said enriched his political and personal growth.

He explained that after careful reflection, he resolved to step away from the party to pursue future endeavours, while wishing the PDP continued success in its activities.

Olaitan, who has been a prominent figure within Atiku Abubakar’s political fold, emphasised that his exit from the PDP should not be seen as an end, but rather the commencement of a fresh journey in his political career.
