Former President Goodluck Jonathan has raised the alarm over an alleged impersonation by suspected fraudsters operating a fake Instagram account in his name.
In a statement on Thursday by his Media Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan dissociated himself from the account with the handle goodluck_ebelejonathan, describing it as fraudulent.
“Our attention has been drawn to a fraudulent Instagram account operating under the handle goodluck_ebelejonathan, which is falsely impersonating former President Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” the statement read.
According to Eze, the impostor has been posting misleading content — some of which were copied from the former president’s verified Facebook page — while pretending to represent him.
He stressed that Jonathan does not operate any Instagram account and urged the media and the public to disregard and avoid engaging with content from the fake profile.
