The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has suffered a setback following the resignation of its Financial Secretary, Nasiru Yahaya Isa, who also announced his exit from the party.
In a resignation letter dated August 11, 2025, and addressed to the PDP State Chairman, Isa attributed his decision to persistent internal crises, lack of internal democracy, and deepening factional divisions.
“It has become increasingly difficult for me to continue in this role with the integrity and commitment it demands,” he wrote, citing prolonged leadership wrangling and the defection of prominent members — particularly to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) — as factors that have eroded members’ trust and public confidence.
Isa, a former Permanent Secretary in Sokoto State and founder of the Danfilinge Development Foundation, noted that the exodus of long-standing party stalwarts and entrenched factionalism had created an environment at odds with his values and vision for effective political engagement.
He explained that his decision followed consultations with friends and family, adding that he now seeks a political platform more aligned with his principles, where he can contribute meaningfully to political discourse in the state.
Isa expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunity to serve, but maintained that the prevailing situation had rendered his continued participation untenable.
