Three killed As Bandits Attack Kwara Community

At least three people, including a police officer and two vigilante members, were killed on Friday when suspected bandits invaded Babanla community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred during a routine meeting of the community’s vigilante group. The gunmen reportedly attacked the local police station, attempted to loot shops and a hotel, and fired sporadically, forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes.

Troops of the Nigerian Army were said to have responded promptly, repelling the assailants and establishing a security cordon around the community.

In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, commended the army, police, and vigilante members for their swift action. He said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been in constant contact with security commanders and local vigilante leaders, and has ordered a sustained security lockdown to neutralise the threat and safeguard lives and property.
