The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has declared that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is no longer recognised as a member of the opposition party.

The group, in a statement on Tuesday, said the former Rivers State governor has effectively forfeited his position in the PDP by publicly aligning himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

CP-PDP accused the minister of attempting to dictate the internal affairs of the party through his recent media outbursts, describing his actions as “irrelevant and unbecoming of a former party leader.”

Obinna Nwachukwu, Chairman of the PDP Professionals, who signed the statement, said the party and its members have moved beyond Wike’s “antics and bullying tactics.”

“The FCT Minister must realise that the PDP has gone beyond being controlled, influenced or bullied by diatribes,” the statement read.
“He is an appointee and apologist of the failed Tinubu administration and no longer qualified to call himself a member of our party.”

The group further dismissed Wike’s reference to court orders concerning the leadership of the South-South and South-East chapters of the PDP, insisting that the party’s leadership structures in the two zones are functional and recognised.

“Wike’s reference to court orders on the issue of the leadership of the South-South and South-East chapters of the party is of no moment and should be disregarded,” CP-PDP added.

The statement called on Nigerians to ignore Wike’s comments, noting that the party has resolved to focus on internal unity and its role as the main opposition to the current government.
