Senior Advocate of Nigeria and human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has asserted that the Nigerian middle class has been completely eroded under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Falana criticised the Federal Government’s economic approach, describing its policies as harsh and neoliberal. According to him, these measures have only deepened poverty and widened income inequality.

“You cannot be addressing income inequality in a country while handing over the nation’s resources to a few people in the name of privatisation,” he said.

Falana lamented that most Nigerians now struggle to afford three square meals, insisting that the country’s economic policies have eliminated the middle class.

“The middle class has been wiped out by the neoliberal policies of the government,” he stated, urging the administration to urgently review its economic reforms to prevent further hardship.

The human rights lawyer also accused the government of “handing Nigeria’s resources to a few individuals,” warning that continued concentration of wealth would worsen the nation’s economic divide.
