Dino Melaye
Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ridiculed former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, over his recent comments on regretting support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Melaye, now a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today that he “regrets supporting APC,” adding, “I was blind then, now I can see.”
Olayinka, in a post on X, described Melaye as a “former blind man and tree climber,” taunting him for failing to vote during the Kogi governorship election in which he was a candidate.
“Good morning this evening, former blind man Dino Melaye, the tree climber,” Olayinka wrote. “But was it the blindness that made you not vote in your own governorship election? How does someone stay at home doing social media content on the day of his own election?”
Melaye defected to the APC in 2015 but returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 general election after a protracted political battle with former Kogi governor Yahaya Bello. He has maintained that the country remains precarious under the APC’s leadership.
