Lagos PDP expels members who defected to ADC
Osun

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled its members who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The decision was announced by the spokesman of the PDP Elders’ Caucus and chairmen of the party in the 20 local government areas, Mr Segun Edwards. He explained that the expulsion followed a stakeholders’ meeting comprising party elders and local government chairmen, convened to deliberate on the outcome of last week’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

Edwards stated that all PDP members who openly aligned with the ADC have been expelled with immediate effect. He added that the meeting also resolved that local government chairmen should begin preparations for the party’s forthcoming congresses at all levels, culminating in the National Convention scheduled for between September and November this year.

Party leaders at the meeting condemned the defection of some members to the ADC, describing it as a violation of the PDP’s principles. The stakeholders unanimously voted in favour of the expulsion motion, affirming that members who publicly declared for the ADC could no longer remain in the PDP.
