
The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has nominated eight new commissioners, just days after dissolving his State Executive Council.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Tersoo Kula, said the first batch of nominees had been forwarded to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.
The nominees are:
Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue
Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver
Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa
Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo
Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga
Hon. Denis Iyaighgba
Hon. James Dwem
Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche
Kula stated that the move underscores the governor’s commitment to enhancing the machinery of governance and ensuring effective service delivery across sectors. He added that a second batch of nominees would be forwarded to the Assembly in the coming days.
Governor Alia, on Wednesday, dissolved his cabinet, retaining only the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher, who was subsequently appointed as his Chief of Staff.
