A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Akande, has been confirmed dead. He reportedly died on Wednesday from complications arising from an auto accident that occurred last week in Ojo, Lagos.
Hon. Akande, a seasoned legal practitioner and politician, represented Ojo State Constituency I in the Assembly, serving two consecutive terms between 2015 and 2023.
He was first elected into the Assembly in 2015 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), on which platform he secured re-election in 2019.
During his tenure, Akande held several leadership roles, notably serving as the Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
His passing marks a significant loss to the Lagos political community, particularly within the Ojo Constituency, where he was known for his legislative advocacy and commitment to public service.
