A 25-year-old man, Michael Ikuedowoni, has died after he was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend, Augustina Mowari, during a domestic dispute in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The altercation, which occurred over the weekend, reportedly stemmed from ongoing tensions in their relationship, particularly over allegations of infidelity.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the confrontation escalated when Mowari accused Ikuedowoni of engaging in extramarital affairs. A close friend of the deceased, who requested anonymity, disclosed that the argument turned violent when Mowari allegedly seized a pair of scissors and stabbed him in the leg.
“He was initially taken to the hospital and treated, but later discharged. However, his condition deteriorated the following day, and he was rushed back to the hospital on Sunday night. Sadly, he didn’t make it,” the source said.
The state police spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident. According to him, the suspect has been apprehended and remains in custody pending further investigation.
“There was a disagreement between the two individuals, which resulted in the suspect stabbing the victim with a pair of scissors. He later died in the hospital. The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation,” Ayanlade stated.
The case has reignited discussions around domestic violence and the consequences of unresolved relationship conflicts.
