Obidient Movement Set for Statewide March In Abia,

The Abia State chapter of the Obidient Movement has declared its intention to stage a One Million Man March across key towns in the state on Friday, 19 July, in honour of Mr Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

In a statement issued in Umuahia on Sunday, the group disclosed that the solidarity march will simultaneously be held in Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia, and Uzuakoli.

Signed by one of the state coordinators, Mr Chibuzor Obiesili, alongside the Head of Media and Publicity Sub-committee, Mr Christian Emmanuel, the statement said the event would also commemorate Obi’s birthday, which coincides with the march date.

Expressing support for Obi’s adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a platform for his 2027 presidential ambition, the group described the ADC as an “organic coalition movement” capable of driving genuine political change.

The statement read: “Mr Obi believes that dismantling the structures that entrench poverty and insecurity requires building bridges, not walls — even when building those bridges proves challenging.”

Beyond the march, the Obidient Movement said its members would undertake humanitarian visits to prisons, hospitals, and other centres housing vulnerable groups across Abia State.
