Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, has demanded the immediate cancellation of the ongoing local government elections, citing widespread irregularities and alleged electoral manipulation.
Addressing journalists on Saturday morning, the former deputy governor raised grave concerns over the credibility of the process, accusing electoral officials of orchestrating a plot to favour a specific political party.
She lamented that numerous eligible voters, including herself, were unable to find their names on the voter register at their designated polling units.
“When you arrive at your polling unit, they present a pre-compiled list. I went to mine, and my name was nowhere to be found,” she said.
Bucknor-Akerele further alleged that disruptions had occurred at several polling centres and accused election officials of deliberately disenfranchising the electorate.
“I am calling for the cancellation of this election because there is a deliberate and coordinated effort to rig it in favour of one party,” she stated emphatically.
