Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped one position to 44th in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Thursday, despite earning 2.91 additional points to reach a total of 1484.26.
The marginal movement reflects their mixed results in recent international fixtures, which included two draws and one victory. Previously ranked 43rd, the Super Eagles now trail Paraguay but remain ahead of Côte d’Ivoire, who dropped four places to 45th after a string of underwhelming performances, totalling 1483.45 points.
On the global front, Argentina retained the number one spot despite a minor point deduction (-0.8), while Spain surged into second place with a gain of 12.45 points. France holds firm in third, followed by England and Brazil completing the top five.
Portugal and the Netherlands each moved up one place to 6th and 7th respectively, with Portugal recording the most significant gain among the top ten (+20.45 points). Germany, despite maintaining their previous point tally, fell one spot to 9th, while Italy dropped to 11th after losing 15.73 points.
Notably, Mexico achieved the most substantial leap within the top 20, climbing four places to 13th with a 42.79-point gain. The United States and Norway also registered impressive upward movements, each gaining over 20 points.
At the base of the rankings, San Marino remains the lowest-ranked national team, placed 210th with 738.24 points.
