Ned Nwoko Named Best Performing Senator Of The Year

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has emerged as the Best Performing Senator of the Year at the 2025 edition of the prestigious Democracy Heroes Award, hosted by Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN).

Nwoko clinched the top spot following a competitive online poll in which he garnered 4,685 votes, amounting to 29% of total ballots cast. He outperformed prominent contenders, including Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (Gombe), Senator Sunday Karimi (Kogi), Senator Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia), and Senator Tokunbo Abiru.

The Democracy Heroes Award is an annual initiative that celebrates public office holders, entrepreneurs, and creative industry players who have demonstrated excellence in governance, economic advancement, and democratic development through initiatives such as infrastructure delivery, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation.

In a statement released on Saturday, FDN Project Director, Mr Olufunsho Ajagbonna (popularly known as Fajag), congratulated the awardees and reiterated the organisation’s commitment to promoting performance-driven leadership by honouring individuals who have made measurable impacts on national development.

Nwoko’s recognition is attributed to his robust legislative agenda and constituency engagement. Since assuming office in the Senate, he has been instrumental in sponsoring key bills, including the Creation of Anioma State Bill, the Diaspora Voting Bill, the Nigerian Social Security Agency Bill, and amendments to the Nigerian Defence Academy Act, among others.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Nwoko has maintained a strong presence in national discourse and is widely commended for his developmental interventions and legislative activism.

The award will be formally presented to him at a grand ceremony scheduled for 15 October 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
